How do you coupon?

So you want to use coupons?  How do you get yourself organized to actually be an efficient couponer?  We will share with you the way that we organize our coupons. I (Amber) have come to the conclusion that there are two types of coupon organizers, type A and type B.

Type A couponers are those that cut out each coupon and sort them by category.  They know where each and every item coupon is located.

Type B couponers are those that are minimalistic in their approach to couponing.  They sort the inserts by type and date.  They only cut out the coupons they need as they use them.

There are a lot of resources out there as to how to organize and what works for different people.  The key is to determine how much time you have to dedicate to couponing and what works best for you.  Here is how we organize our coupons...

Amber:  I am definitely a type B couponer.  I cannot stand having to sit and cut out EVERY coupon from EVERY insert, especially when I buy multiple inserts.  I have my binder organized with 8 index dividers.  I have 5 dedicated to insert types (SS, RP, PG, RP, GM), 1 for Internet printed coupons, 1 for store policies, and 1 for expired coupons to mail overseas.  This organizing system is highly functional for me because I print a list of each coupon in each insert and place it in the front of that page protector.  I cut my coupons either before I shop or as I am at the store using a ceramic blade cutter from Pampered Chef.

Jennifer:  I prefer to clip individual coupons and organize them by category.  This makes it so much easier for me when I am shopping and find a deal.  I simply flip to that section in my coupon binder and look for a matching coupon.  I keep all of my coupons in clear sheet protectors.  I find that the sheet protectors are roomier than baseball card holders.  Preclipping all of my coupons does take a bit more time up front; however, I don't have to carry a pair of scissors in my binder with me.  Which is good for me, since I don't run/shop well with scissors.

Carrie:  Very simple I don’t organize them they are a mess in a folder still. J Ok, ok, I organize my coupons my categories. I currently have a list of 29 categories and I cut out all of my coupons and put them in baseball card protectors. In the back of my binder I have dividers for stores I shop at to put there store coupons in as well as there coupon policies.

So what type of couponer are you or do you want to be?

Happy New Year 2011!!!

Hello all you Crazy Coupon Queens and those aspiring to be.....we are finally live!!!  After a month of trying to figure out this whole blog/website business, our first post is finally here!

We made it to 2011.  After all the craziness of 2010 is behind us we are glad to welcome the new year.  Since this our first post we wanted to introduce you to the crazy coupon queens.  There are three of us right now but as time goes on we will have more join us.  The more the merrier!

I am Amber.  I discovered couponing a few months ago and do not know why I didn't find it earlier.  I am now addicted to saving rather than spending.  My coupon binder is in the car at all times so if I find an amazing deal I can check for a coupon first to make the deal even sweeter.  I am committed to helping your family save on groceries and daily need products.

I am Carrie.  I also started couponing just a few months ago and was hooked right away! I have a son still in diapers and I had used coupons on them before, but when I learned how I could get them for close to free I knew I could save my family money. With 3 kids and my husband unemployed at the time, our budget was tight so anyway to make money or save I was willing to try. My dream is to have a good stockpile for my family and I so I don't have to buy things ever again at regular price. I also want to be able to help my extended family and friends with saving money. I will never stop couponing now.

I am Jennifer.I was spending way too much paying retail and am now a coupon convert for life.  Couponing has allowed me to cut down my families budget while not cutting back on what we need.  In the first three months that I started using coupons I saved over $2,000.  Join me in my goal to save $10,000 in 2011!

So that is all of us in a nutshell.  Please feel free to post your savings stories and any deals that we may not be aware of.  We can be reached at crazycouponqueens@gmail.com  We are located in different states so we will cover deals from Oregon/Pacific NW and Southern Utah.  You can follow us by clicking on the subscribe link on the right side of the page.  You can also like on Facebook at our Crazy Coupon Queens page.  We look forward to a fantastic year of fabulous savings!
